How to open your polyglot file
  • To access different file types, simply rename the file extension (e.g. .zip, .mp4, .jpg, etc.).
  • If your computer can't open .zip files, try using the command line: unzip filename.zip
  • .mp4 files may not play in some video players, but work fine with popular ones like VLC or QuickTime Player.
  • These files are polyglots and may behave differently depending on the software used to open them.

What is a PDF + Video + Image + ZIP polyglot?

The four-format polyglot: one file that is at once a valid PDF, a valid MP4, a valid image and a valid ZIP archive. Four applications, four correct interpretations, one set of bytes.

How the formats coexist

Each format is located differently: image by leading signature, MP4 by its atom chain, PDF by header and trailer, ZIP by scanning back from the end, and those four strategies can be satisfied simultaneously with careful layout.
